Technical Product Owner

Domain: Test & Assessment

Core Digital Services, responsible within the Sanoma Learning Technology for the delivery of the Test & Assessment components, is looking for a technical Product Owner. Key-users of our Test & Assessment components are the teachers and pupils in the class-rooms across Europe using one of our applications for the primary or secondary education market. As the technical Product Owner, you work closely with our Product Managers, located in Finland, Belgium, Sweden and Den-Bosch, to understand their business requirements. Within our Agile / SAFe way of working you translate these business requirements, together with your DevOps team, into clear user-stories. You serve as a facilitating intermediate between the business and the technology, you are safeguarding the progression on our business objectives and you are providing optimal transparancy to relevant stakeholders.

Job description:

  • Collaborate closely with our Product Managers to understand their requirements and to be able to translate their requirements, together with the DevOps team, into user-stories.
  • Define transparent acceptance criteria for the user-stories to ensure the created value by the DevOps team is always in-line with the business requirements.
  • Responsible for the priority settings on the backlog of the DevOps team.
  • Provides the correct level of business support needed by the DevOps team to empower them to deliver the business value they commited to.
  • Prepare the Program Increment sessions (every 3 months) together with the DevOps team and be transparent about the objectives in scope to the stakeholders.
  • Contribute in continuous improvement on the predictability of the DevOps team and other important quality metrics for the DevOps team.
  • Participate in all scrum-events of the DevOps team and facilitates the sessions where needed.
  • Act as a true ‘Product Owner’ by creating lean business cases for technical epics, which are on the roadmap for Technology and be able to create understanding and acceptance by business stakeholders for these technical epics.
  • Assist where needed in keeping the focus on the concept of developing generic components instead of developing ‘custom build solutions’.

You will mainly work from Sanoma Learning’s headquarters in ‘s-Hertogenbosch but you are willing to travel to the operating companies when required. You directly report to the Digital Lead Core Digital Services.

  • 5+ years of experience working in the Test & Assessment domain
  • Able to operate as a strong sparring partner for stakeholders within the Test & Assessment domain
  • Proven skills in working in a complex international environment
  • Proven experiences in working in an international SAFe environment is a pre
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills in English
  • Experiences with Agile / Scrum is required
